General Information about the Department

The Department of Recreation Management at the Manavgat Faculty of Tourism, Akdeniz University, offers an eight-semester undergraduate programme. One of the primary objectives of the Department is to educate and train qualified professionals who are proficient in two foreign languages, possess comprehensive knowledge of recreation, tourism, and business administration, and demonstrate professional competencies that meet both national and international standards.

Departmental Learning Objectives

The Department aims to:

  • Offer relevant, distinctive, and academically rigorous programmes designed to educate graduates who are competent in the field of Recreation Management and possess well-developed managerial and entrepreneurial skills.
  • Generate, compile, and disseminate up-to-date knowledge in the field of Recreation Management.
  • Conduct projects aimed at developing innovative approaches and techniques in Recreation Management.
  • Undertake projects and studies that contribute to the development of Recreation Management in Türkiye at both national and regional levels.
  • Identify and address issues related to Recreation Management, lead the development of the field, raise public awareness, and contribute to the formation of an informed society.
  • Contribute to meeting the demand for qualified human resources in the field of recreation management within the tourism industry.

Career and Employment Opportunities

Graduates of the programme may primarily be employed in recreation enterprises, as well as in other tourism establishments, in middle- and senior-level managerial positions involving the planning, coordination, and implementation of recreational activities.

Graduates who obtain the required score in the Public Personnel Selection Examination may also be employed by public institutions and organisations.

Graduates wishing to pursue an academic career may be employed as academic staff in relevant programmes at universities, provided that they fulfil the applicable requirements. These requirements may include obtaining the required scores in central examinations such as the Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES), the Foreign Language Proficiency Examination (YDS), or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), as well as possessing relevant professional experience.

Graduates may also pursue teaching opportunities, subject to the successful completion of a pedagogical formation programme and the fulfilment of the relevant legal and institutional requirements.

Access to Further Studies

Graduates wishing to pursue an academic career may enrol in master's and doctoral programmes in Recreation Management, Tourism, or related fields at universities, provided that they meet the relevant admission requirements. These requirements may include obtaining the required scores in central examinations such as ALES, YDS, or TOEFL and possessing relevant sectoral experience.
